Before you start

Open Settings → Writing assistant, enable the feature, and choose a compatible AI service and model. Configure missing connection details under Translation providers.

Choose the output and reference-translation languages, length, style, tone, and role. You can adjust preferences for the current draft too.

Draft a reply

  1. Open a reply editor on a supported Gmail or GitHub page.
  2. Choose the writing entry beside the editor's actions.
  3. An existing draft opens in the improvement flow. With an empty editor and discussion context, the assistant can start drafting; for a new email with no context, add the recipient, purpose, and key points before generating.
  4. Generate and review the draft. Add instructions to refine it.
  5. Choose Insert reply to put it in the editor, or Copy reply to paste it yourself.

You still send from the original website. The assistant does not automatically send an email or post a comment.

Improve an existing draft

Improve an existing draft

Write in the reply box, then open the assistant. Adjust language, length, and tone while keeping your intent. Edit the reference text if you need to start over.

If the original editor changes while you are writing, check the current draft before inserting to avoid overwriting new input.

Adjust or hide the entry

Adjust or hide the entry

The entry menu can close it for this session, disable it on the current site, or turn off the feature. Restore disabled sites under Settings → Writing assistant. Saved provider and style preferences remain available.

Data

Generating or revising sends the necessary reference text, draft, and instructions to your selected AI provider. Replies are inserted into Gmail as plain text. Check names, facts, and tone before sending.

Bilingual replies

Bilingual replies

Choose the output language and a different reference language. Review the translated reference below the draft. Insert reply inserts the main text; its menu also offers Insert bilingual reply, with the main draft followed by its reference translation. Wait for a complete translation matching the current draft before using bilingual insertion.

Replies keep Markdown formatting in GitHub and use plain text in Gmail. If the original draft contains complex formatting or the editor changed, copy the reply and paste it yourself.

Reference text and stopping

Reference text and stopping

Reference content shows the current draft and the visible discussion or email context for this editor. Check it before generating. Optional learning memory follows your saved setting and is not read in private windows.

Stop generation, close the card, or leave the page to cancel the current request. Existing text remains available. Drafts and reference text stay within this page session; writing requests and any permitted memory are sent to your selected AI service.
